Réunion annuelle de la « Platinum Age Comics List » au FiBD d’Angoulême 2024

Le « Plat Meeting », réunion annuelle de la « Platinum Age Comics List, se tiendra le vendredi 26 janvier 2024 à partir de 14 h au centre de documentation du Musée de la bande dessinée d’Angoulême. 

L’objectif de présentations du « Plat Meeting » est de partager et de discuter à propos des bandes dessinées et autres littératures graphiques du XIXe et début du XXe siècle.

Déjà prévu au programme :

Hommage à David Kunzle (1936-2024)
Le grand historien de la bande dessinée, auteur notamment de livres sur la période du XIXe siècle, mais aussi sur Töpffer, Cham ou encore Gustave Doré, vient de décéder le 1^er janvier dernier. Nous lui dédicacerons cette réunion en évoquant son œuvre.

Dauntless Dames: High-Heeled Heroes of the Comics, par Peter Maresca
Présentation du nouveau livre édité par Peter Maresca et Trina Robbins chez Fantagraphics qui se présente comme une anthologie de bandes dessinées américaines de la fin des années 1930 au début des années 1950 mettant en scène des héroïnes intelligentes, intrépides et indépendantes.

Les généalogies visuelles d’Adamson/Silent Sam, par Fredrik Strömberg
Un regard sur Adamson/Silent Sam de l’artiste suédois Oscar Jacobsson (1889-1945), l’une des bandes dessinées internationales les plus largement diffusées de l’entre-deux-guerres, en la comparant aux bandes dessinées d’Adamson produites par des repreneurs anonymes dans le monde entier.

Dans l’ombre du professeur Nimbus, par Antoine Sausverd
Présentation du premier strip français, Les aventures du professeur Nimbus, créé en 1934 par André Daix et diffusé dans une cinquantaine de pays.

Deutsche Comicforschung 2005-2024
Présentation du sommaire du denier numéro de Deutsche Comicforschung, revue allemande d’étude sur la bande dessinée dirigée par Eckart Sackmann.

Les origines de la bande dessinée espagnole (1857-1939), par Félix López
Aperçu de la naissance et de l’évolution de la bande dessinée en Espagne entre la fin du XIXe et le début du XXe siècle.

Graphic Narratives, Comic Forms in Europe and Poland up to 1918, par Paweł Chmielewski
Présentation du livre Graphic Narratives, Comic Forms in Europe and Poland up to 1918 par son auteur sur les tout débuts de la bande dessinée en Pologne.

Un émule napolitain de Töpffer, par Fabio Gadducci
À la fin des années 1840, les revues de caricatures se répandent dans toute l’Italie, avec deux des plus grands marchés : Turin et Naples. La première est le berceau de l’artiste séquentiel le plus connu de l’Italie du XIXe siècle, Casimiro Teja et des premières bandes dessinées parues dans Il Mondo Illustrato. Quant à Naples, c’est la patrie d’un artiste relativement inconnu qui imite Töpffer, qui a produit le seul livret connu adoptant le format et la technique d’autographie du Suisse.

Ces présentations durent au maximum 15 à 20 minutes, elles sont libres et ouvertes au public. Toute personne souhaitant y contribuer est la bienvenue, à condition de me contacter pour être intégré au programme.

Qu’est-ce que la Platinum Age Comics List ? Créée en 1999 par Robert Beerbohm, cette liste de discussion rassemble plus de 500 membres, répartis dans une trentaine de pays, qui s’intéressent à l’étude des bandes dessinées publiées du XIXe siècle jusqu’au milieu des années 1930.

Platinum Age Comics List annual meeting at FiBD Angoulême 2024

The Plat Meeting, the annual meeting of the Platinum Age Comics List, will be held on Friday, January 26th, 2024, starting at 2 pm at the Musée de la bande dessinée’s documentation center in Angoulême.

The aim of the “Plat Meeting” presentations is to share and discuss comics and other graphic literature of the 19th and early 20th century.

Tribute to David Kunzle (1936-2024)
The great comics historian, author of books on both 19th century comics and pioneers like Töpffer, Cham and Gustave Doré, passed away on January 1st. We will dedicate this meeting to his memory and work.

Dauntless Dames: High-Heeled Heroes of the Comics, by Peter Maresca
Presentation of the new book edited by Peter Maresca and Trina Robbins for Fantagraphics, an anthology of American comics from the late 1930s to the early 1950s featuring intelligent, intrepid and independent heroines.

A Neapolitan emulator of Töpffer, by Fabio Gadducci
By the late 1840s, caricatural magazines were spreading all around Italy, with two of the largest markets being Turin and Naples. As for Turin, it was the cradle of the best known sequential artist of 19th
century Italy, Casimiro Teja, and of the earliest comics strips in a magazine, inside Il Mondo Illustrato. As for Naples, it was the home of a relatively unknown artist who emulates Töpffer, which produced the only known booklet adopting the format and the autography technique used by the Swiss author.

What is the Platinum Age Comics List? Founded in 1999 by Robert Beerbohm, this discussion list brings together over 500 people in some 30 countries, who are interested in the study of comics published from the 19th century to the mid-1930s.
